Astoria School District Staff and Families, 

As some of you may know, Mr. Hoppes is on an extended leave of absence from Astoria School District. While Superintendent Hoppes is away, Dr. Sheila Roley has graciously offered her services as Interim Superintendent, and we are placing those duties in her capable hands.

Dr. Roley has extensive experience in education as a teacher, a curriculum director, a secondary-level principal, and most recently, Superintendent for Seaside School District. She is actively involved in community service groups and committees in Astoria and surrounding communities. 

Dr. Roley will come to this interim position as an excellent leader with years of experience in education and administration. Superintendent Roley has an impressive academic resume, including a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Biology, Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.

Interim Superintendent Roley has transitioned into the role throughout July. She and I will work together to plan opportunities for her to meet and get reacquainted with students, staff, and families during the beginning of the school year conferences and open house events in September. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Roley to Astoria School District.
